IMHR HELP
A reminder that the Stud Registration deal closed on January 15th 2009. Horses must now be individually registered.
We have listed some Frequently Asked Questions and Answers to hopefully address your question. If your question is not covered here, please contact us.
1. My horse has unknown or unverified parentage-can I register them with IMHR Inc.?
Yes, until August 2009, IMHR will accept registrations for all horses meeting the height criteria and record the parentage if known as provided by the owner. After August 2009, proof of parentage will be required via Stallion Return, registration with other recognised societies or DNA testing.
2. Do I have to be a member and do my horses have to be registered IMHR to attend IMHR Feature Shows such as the Nationals?
No you do not have to be a member to attend however , non-members must pay the EFA Insurance Levy which is currently $20 per person. Horses do not have to be registered IMHR but must be registered (not pending) with a miniature horse society.
3. Are there classes for Little Horse at IMHR Feature Shows?
Yes, the Little Horse category was introduced for breeding stock however, they are fully registered and therefore have show rights at open shows where the height is permitted such as Sydney Royal. IMHR will not be holding specific classes for this height categories at all IMHR Feature Shows but they will be appearing at the 2009 National Show as a trial.
4. Do I need a Certificate of Soundess for my stallion?
If you are intending on breeding your stallion, you must have a Certificate of Soundness (COS) on file. If your stallion holds permanently registration with another society that requires a COS for permanent status then a copy of that registration certificate will suffice. Your IMHR registration will be annotated for COS on file.
5. When is my horse due for upgrade?
IMHR does not have the requirement for upgrades at two and four years old. All horses have one upgrade at five years only. This reduces paperwork for members and IMHR and would better reflect a horses permanent height.
6. I have bought an IMHR registered horse but the previous owner is no longer a member and I can't get a transfer. What do I do?
IMHR will accept a signed bill of sale from the registered owner for the transfer to be effected. In all cases, a signature is required from the current registered owner for a transfer to be made.
